Steam Punk Bodice
My
bodice design reminds me of ‘Steam Punk’ clothing due to certain features, like
the pleating, the v neck, the sleeveless design and the lacing in the front.
Consequently, I wanted a fabric to mirror this style, but also be strong enough
to hold the pleats in shape, while being thin enough and not stretchy to allow
the pleats to be pressed. So, I didn’t want a fabric such as chiffon or organza
nor velvet or a thick denim. I found this clock fabric which I thought was
perfect as it wasn’t stretchy and wasn’t too thick or thin. I also believe the
clock pattern reflects the ‘Steam Punk’ style very well and is quite unique,
which I really liked. I also felt that the muted colours of browns and grey's
enhanced this theme as well.
