1970's Hippie Costume

- Colour, Bauhaus and Anni Albers -

For this project, the theme was Colour, Anni Albers and Bauhaus. I was inspired by Alber's technique of weaving which is why I weaved my entire 3/4 length jumpsuit. I did want the costume to be hippie influenced as i feel this represents the idea of colour the best, so I added flares, bright colours, a halter neck and a kimono style jacket. Originally, the jacket was long however I felt it needed to be waist length to balance with the flares. Overall, i was happy with my jumpsuit but i found the weave shrunk a lot, so the jumpsuit is now a very small size. I loved the challenge of working out how to create a frame to weave within as well, and thought the frame i created worked well.
