Top Model

Top Model 2019

Today I worked backstage at Top Model UK/Worldwide to assist model and designers with garments. We began by organising all the models and their self-styled looks. There were two categories; Commercial and Editorial and the room was split into odd and even model numbers.
When the designers came in, their garments had to be steamed and placed with the model who was wearing the garment's number. Some designers had brought new garments that weren't available at the previous fittings, so these had to be fitted to their new model. This also meant some alterations had to be made and one dress had around 6 inches cut from the bottom, then, using a lighter, the hem was burnt and sealed.
Before this event, we attended the fitting session. This was to allow designers to try their garments on models and organise their line up so that it flowed nicely. Once it was decided, someone would take a photo of each model in order, while I wrote down a description of the garment next to the correct models name. This was to make sure the organisation of the garments during the show was smooth and a lot easier and more controlled.

During the show some props had to be held at the line up for when the model went onto their second runway. Between the different categories there were changes which appeared chaotic to begin with, however they were all finished withing around 5 minutes which allowed plenty of time for changes to make up and hair.
