Paneled Pencil Skirt

Paneled, Pencil Skirt with a Peplum

For this skirt, I wanted to add gathers and paneling to my pattern to showcase some of the techniques I learnt through the skirt project. I cut the edge of the peplum on the selvedge as I thought this would have the neatest finish because i would not have to sew over the fabric. I think the split could have been slightly longer, however it allows more movement so the skirt isn't as restrictive. I hand sewed the hem so that the sewing wasn't visible from the right side and I overlocked each seams then pressed it open to make sure there would be no fraying. I think the waistband worked well and was the right thickness for the skirt, and all the fastenings work nicely. I chose this fabric because it had a nice texture and a subtle colour and it was thin enough to allow movement within the gathers, while still creating volume.
