“My work reflects my continuing passion and excitement for the use of colour.”

Ruth Issett works with paper and fabric which she dye’s, stitches, prints, paints and collages with. She is often inspired by the environment around her, with her work often mirroring landscapes and plants. Procion Mx Dyes are used to paint directly onto fabric surface which begins the colourful process of her artwork. Issett experiments with transparent colour, chosen from her large variety of opaque media, and uses this to layer up her designs and patterns. She uses the transparency “to alter and build the colour intensity”. She has also used transparent fabric within her work, alongside the paint.
