Fashion International London 2018

(Omar Mansoor)

Saturday 15th September 2018
The Amba Hotel Charing Cross, London

There were five designers exhibiting in this catwalk: Omar Mansoor; Afrodite; Mini Bindra; Sam Dada; Karen Gold. It was so interesting seeing all the collections and how they had a clear resemblance to the designers nationality.

It started off slow; we helped the designers get their garments on hangers when they arrived and began steaming the clothes. The models started arriving and the make up artists set up in the room next to us.Once everyone had arrived, it was time to start fitting the garments on the models and getting the line up prepared for the runway. I helped with Omar Mansoor's and Sam Dada's collection which I thought were so fun and intricate and amazing to see.

But then we went backstage and when the clock struck 7 o'Clock, we didn't stop. During the show it was frantic and nerve racking and so chaotic. Clothes were being flung around, models were crammed into tiny sections of the room while trying to manoeuvre into delicately embroidered ball gowns. Names were being shouted across the room and designers were desperately trying to pair the correct accessories with the right outfit.

If there is anything I have learned from this experience, it's that I now know why the music is so loud during a runway!
